City Harmonic – I Have a Dream (not a typical “worship album”, but has some great anthems)

Ricardo Sanchez – It’s Not Over (my absolute favorites tune right now is “Relentless”!!)

Daniel Bashta – The Sounds of Daniel Bashta (I love the rawness and power in this album)

C3 - Undivided (great worship from big church in Australia not named Hillsong)

Jeremy Riddle – Furious (worship leader from Bethel Reading CA. Re-does some of those songs in a different way)

Bryan and Katie Torwalt – Here on Earth (Love this album…such a great find. These songs are anointed!)

Rita Springer – Playlist (great tunes, great writer/worship leader who’s been doing it for a long time)

Cory Asbury – Let Me See Your Eyes (so diverse in sound but super anointed)

Hillsong Live – God is Able (typical Hillsong anthem goodness)

Jon Thurlow – Strong Love (some real intimate worship stuff on here….piano and voice)

Josh Garrels – Love, War and the Sea in Between (this guy’s voice is so unique and his music is filled with passion) -get the album FREE at NoiseTrade

William Matthews – Hope’s Anthem (great studio album from one of the worship leaders at Bethel Redding)

Henry Seeley – Find a Way - EP (used to be the worship leader with Planetshakers…love his voice and songwriting)

Matt Redman – 10,000 Reasons (this Matt album seems to be my favorite…great church anthems)

Maybe you have heard of Elevation Church in NC? Maybe you have heard of a young pastor named Steven Furtick? They are one of the fastest growing churches in the US. Their worship team put out a few worship albums. Elevation Worship is a great new church led worship team that is coming up with some great worship songs.

I like the themes and anthems that they are coming up with regarding the church and our mission.

They even desire to teach others their songs and sounds which I totally dig. Training up more people to lead and walk in worship. Also check out their WEBSITE devoted to their worship team, as well as others, that want to glean off their knowledge and passion for worshiping our Savior.

I figured I would share some of my thoughts and likes when it comes to worship music. I dig a wide variety of worship music. So I’m sure most people will find something new they might dig as I drop some of my favs. If not, you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself….okay, seriously…I hope you dig some of this stuff. There are a lot of great worship writers out there…

First up…GUNGOR…this is Michael Gungor’s band. The guy is a great guitar player and also wrote some very popular songs (some preformed by Israel Houghton) like “Friend of God” and “Say So”. I like his group because their songs are not the typical worship style….but they are still worship and their words bring me to a realization of God’s love and grace. “Beautiful Things” is a song that gets stuck in my head and I love it….such a great thing to get “stuck on”. God of Second Chances – Carlos Whittaker

We did this song as a special this past Sunday. I love how Carlos was set up to do a video shoot and God interrupted it with a great opportunity for ministry. Having a homeless man (danny) sing over the track was something only the Holy Spirit could set up. Seems like those amazing “God moments” happen when we least expect it.

Multi-Church Worship and Prayer night this Friday

I love these nights…Times of powerful worship and prayer with other churches. Each one of these nights gets better and better. In fact they all have their own feel and sound. This one (Friday the 19th) starts at 630pm and is hosted at our church. We will have childcare so families can come and be part of the night. Here are some points we will praying and singing about:

Reaching our City and beyond
Protection and love for our Families
Salvation and reaching others for Christ (our great commission)
Our personal and church’s purpose and mission

Come prepared to hear from God as well as connecting with others to see God glorified.

I love this new worship album. As a pastor, I also love watching this video about their church. There is something special about a church that believes in great worship and is willing to invest in it. I believe it actually helps drive your ministry to a much deeper level. Especially if you set up camp in an area of the city where people have no hope. Check out this church and worship band.

There is something raw about John’s music that I love. I think true worship shouldn’t have a formula or a “sound”, it should be constantly changing and becoming something bigger and deeper than we can fix together. I believe the main ingredient should always be a passion for God. Can’t go wrong with that.
