Radical by David Platt
I just got the new book from David Platt, Radical, in the mail last week. It could not have come at a better time. It seems like everything regarding challenging my thinking about church and Christianity has been showing up in front of me. The first chapter alone shows me how good this book can be. (check out the first chapter here).
I’m convinced that churches today are greatly missing the mark when it comes to how God designed church to be. If you read the book of Acts you discover quickly, that a lot of the things the early church did would be almost impossible for Christians and churches to do today. Why is that? What’s missing? This book exposes these things and causes us to go back to the “radical” teachings of the early apostles. I’m glad I got a chance to pick up a copy of this book.
The Radical Experiment involves five specific challenges to carry out over the span of a year:
- To pray for the entire world.
- To read through the entire Word.
- To sacrifice your money for a specific purpose.
- To give your time in another context.
- To commit your life to a multiplying community.
Does that challenge you? If so, pick up this book and continue to push yourself to become a better example of a Christ follower!
