Life can be like a Car Accident

This morning I drove by a car accident. It was on the other side of the highway but boy did it back up that side of the road. For at least a mile or more, people were forced to sit in traffic and wait while police moved and worked on the situation. I thought about all the people that were late for work, missed a meeting or interview, kids missed school, somebody missed a plane, maybe an important breakfast…you get the point. People’s lives were inconvenienced because somebody else made a poor decision. That decision led to an accident which essentially screwed up a lot of people’s mornings.
I thought about our lives and decisions we make as people on a day to day basis. Many of us never think about how one dumb decision can affect many other important people in our lives. Just think about the decision to buy and use drugs can literally change your life and your family’s life in drastic ways. A husband’s decision to meet another woman for an affair can change not only his life, but both spouses and children as well.
In the same way, the good decisions and choices we make pass along to those in our lives as well. Imagine how much heartache, generational curses, diseases, addictions, etc you can cut off from passing on to your family and friends by just being led by God’s Word. By preparing yourself, keeping your eyes on the road and paying attention, you can avoid a lifetime of regret.
Distractions are just that….diversions to take your eyes off the road. They cause accidents that can lead to spiritual “pile ups” in your life. Sometimes they’re simple things that creep in, just like a sending a text message while you drive, that can lead to major accidents. The things we watch, the way we speak, the people we hang out with, seem like simple things, but can led to a path of destruction.
My question is this….What kind of accidents can be avoided, in your life, if you would only change a few bad driving (decision) habits?
Make them now before it’s too late….just think about all the lives you can save from having to sit behind your mess.
