EASTER SUNDAY

This Sunday is the “SuperBowl of Sundays” I’ve been told. I know a lot of people are planning to attend church that normally don’t attend church. I know a lot of people are going to put on a suit or a dress that normally don’t wear those type of things on a weekly basis. I know most churches are going to talk about the resurrection of Jesus Christ this Sunday.

The fact of the matter is….This Sunday is a big day for churches around the world.

Is there anything wrong with using Easter Sunday as a way to invite those people at work, your neighbors and family members to church this Sunday….I say NO WAY! Whatever it takes to get people into church to hear the Salvation message…let’s do it.

Infact…I’m going to go a step further. It’s so important that people hear that God loves them and that Christ died for them, that if you have to take them to another church for them to feel comfortable….then go with them this Sunday and get them to go SOMEWHERE.

I know not everyone loves our type of worship. Some people like a more “aged” pastor that likes to wear fancy suits. I’ve even heard some people need a church with a steeple to be able to feel comfortable worshiping at. So I’ll even go as far as to recommend you a church to take them to, if you need help. I know a lot of great local pastors in this area that I think are amazing men of God.

What’s the point of this blog entry you ask?……Get people into church!! No matter if it’s SouthView, The Church @ Spring Hill, Spring Hill United Methodist Church, Cornerstone, NewSong, His House, People’s Church, The Church of the Nativity or Spring Meadows Church of Christ….I don’t care. As long as they get an opportunity to connect with our Savior.

Let’s use Easter Sunday to show others how much God loves them….May your church be blessed with His Presence and His love and may many people come to know Him on this Resurrection Sunday!

From April 7th – 12th I will be going with a team from our church and two other churches, to build a house in Mexico. I’m excited to be part of this trip and see what God is going to do. Here’s some info on the trip and the organization we are helping.

Life can be like a Car Accident

insame_multi_car_pile_up-1

This morning I drove by a car accident. It was on the other side of the highway but boy did it back up that side of the road. For at least a mile or more, people were forced to sit in traffic and wait while police moved and worked on the situation. I thought about all the people that were late for work, missed a meeting or interview, kids missed school, somebody missed a plane, maybe an important breakfast…you get the point. People’s lives were inconvenienced because somebody else made a poor decision. That decision led to an accident which essentially screwed up a lot of people’s mornings.

I thought about our lives and decisions we make as people on a day to day basis. Many of us never think about how one dumb decision can affect many other important people in our lives. Just think about the decision to buy and use drugs can literally change your life and your family’s life in drastic ways. A husband’s decision to meet another woman for an affair can change not only his life, but both spouses and children as well.

In the same way, the good decisions and choices we make pass along to those in our lives as well. Imagine how much heartache, generational curses, diseases, addictions, etc you can cut off from passing on to your family and friends by just being led by God’s Word. By preparing yourself, keeping your eyes on the road and paying attention, you can avoid a lifetime of regret.

Distractions are just that….diversions to take your eyes off the road. They cause accidents that can lead to spiritual “pile ups” in your life. Sometimes they’re simple things that creep in, just like a sending a text message while you drive, that can lead to major accidents. The things we watch, the way we speak, the people we hang out with, seem like simple things, but can led to a path of destruction.

My question is this….What kind of accidents can be avoided, in your life, if you would only change a few bad driving (decision) habits?

Make them now before it’s too late….just think about all the livesĀ  you can save from having to sit behind your mess.

Do you believe DUMB things?

PrintI love this series we have been in for last couple of months- “Dumb Things Smart Christians Believe” based off of Larry Osborne’s book. It’s revealed some great truths to me and I hope those that have heard it, have been challenged to go deeper into God’s word to discover what He really said and did.

It’s amazing how most of us quote scripture and do certain things that we think is godily, only to really find out it’s not something He would do at all. I think that’s one of the reasons Christians have such a bad rap in the world. We look like stinkin’ hypocrites and do some awefully stupid things. Sometimes it’s because a pastor or a mentor told us to do so.

This Sunday we break down the myth of “Christians Shouldn’t Judge”. I bet you heard that and more than likely your non-christian friends have quoted or used that before as well. Guess what…We SHOULD!…

I hope this series does two important things….

-Acknowledges any falsehoods we believe

-Causes us to always go to the Bible for our answers. If it’s in the Word than it’s truth and life.

The Bible is truly our best resource for living a successful and amazing life. Don’t take my word for it…open it up and see for yourself. Don’t live the life of an ignorant Christian. Be educated in what you believe, why you believe it and what God says about it.
