A Call to the Men in our Church

I woke up this morning still thinking about our discussion last night from Men’s Group. Honestly it was really one of the best meetings thus far. I would love to see more men in church not afraid to talk about the issues at hand and seek counsel and God’s Word for the answers together.

As men we are very prone to keeping our mouth shut and trying to fix things on our own. It’s not going to happen. Even Samson, one of the strongest men we read about, fell to pieces at the sight of a woman. Don’t kid yourself and think you can live this life victorious without accountability, discipleship and honesty/integrity.

This is a wake up call to the men of this church…let’s take our rightful place and lead our families, church and community into righteousness. Let’s not be afraid to talk about those things that have been weighting on our minds and souls and controlling our lives. Let’s make it a point to expose darkness to the light of God’s Word. Find those accountability brothers you can share your heart with, without feeling condemned. Let’s start going to the Word for advice instead of websites or our own selfish decisions.

This Sunday we are wrapping up our 4th and final part of the VOW. I highly encourage you to not only come, but invite another person out with you. Come with an open mind and heart and expect God to rearrange some things in your marriage. Don’t be a typical “man” and check out. Your marriage, your family and your life is too important.

You guys are a blessing to me and this church. I see nothing but potential and strength in our group. Each one of you offers a different piece to the puzzle of diversity in our church. Let’s encourage each other. Be sensitive to say the right things at the right time to bless each other. Let’s learn to desire Godly things and appreciate what we have, instead of lusting after those things that we “think” we need or desire.

Hebrews 10:19-25

19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

That is your pep talk! That is your motivation. We will not be a church were the men are checked out! We will be a church were the men of God are boldly leading their families, work places and churches to become the best that God has for them.
