A Call to the Men in our Church

I woke up this morning still thinking about our discussion last night from Men’s Group. Honestly it was really one of the best meetings thus far. I would love to see more men in church not afraid to talk about the issues at hand and seek counsel and God’s Word for the answers together.

As men we are very prone to keeping our mouth shut and trying to fix things on our own. It’s not going to happen. Even Samson, one of the strongest men we read about, fell to pieces at the sight of a woman. Don’t kid yourself and think you can live this life victorious without accountability, discipleship and honesty/integrity.

This is a wake up call to the men of this church…let’s take our rightful place and lead our families, church and community into righteousness. Let’s not be afraid to talk about those things that have been weighting on our minds and souls and controlling our lives. Let’s make it a point to expose darkness to the light of God’s Word. Find those accountability brothers you can share your heart with, without feeling condemned. Let’s start going to the Word for advice instead of websites or our own selfish decisions.

This Sunday we are wrapping up our 4th and final part of the VOW. I highly encourage you to not only come, but invite another person out with you. Come with an open mind and heart and expect God to rearrange some things in your marriage. Don’t be a typical “man” and check out. Your marriage, your family and your life is too important.

You guys are a blessing to me and this church. I see nothing but potential and strength in our group. Each one of you offers a different piece to the puzzle of diversity in our church. Let’s encourage each other. Be sensitive to say the right things at the right time to bless each other. Let’s learn to desire Godly things and appreciate what we have, instead of lusting after those things that we “think” we need or desire.

Hebrews 10:19-25

19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

That is your pep talk! That is your motivation. We will not be a church were the men are checked out! We will be a church were the men of God are boldly leading their families, work places and churches to become the best that God has for them.

The Vow is working…

thevow-bulletin-cover-copyThis Sunday is the 4th and final part in the VOW series we have been doing @ SouthView. I’m believing God that marriages are being realigned and restructured through this time. My prayer is that the church as a whole, finally “gets it” and becomes a living breathing example of how God intended marriage to be. Our Vows are so important and the covenant we make with our spouse is much more powerful than we think. It’s time to take these truths and apply them everyday to our marriage.

Priority

Pursuit

Partnership

Purity

It takes work but the end result is so amazing. Time to step it up church!! Stop looking good on the outside but inside the 4 walls of your home, live in turmoil. Only God can restore what has been stolen from your marriage. This Sunday is the time to remember our Vow of Purity. It’s time for a 2nd chance. It’s time to fill up your marriage with Purity and Forgiveness. Come to be encouraged, healed and restored. Your marriage deserves it!

Eric Reeder

This Sunday we have a special guest speaker, Eric Reeder, sharing @ SouthView Community Church. Eric travels with Dutch Sheets (http://www.dutchsheets.org/) and has been part of a group called the Breaker Company. I’m very excited to hear Eric speak. I believe God is using this man mightily through the world and I’m excited to have him share about what God is doing to awakening reformation!

God has infused in Eric Reeder a dynamic and compelling passion for generational synergy to extend God’s Kingdom in all arenas of culture.  Eric is being sent across the country to bring generations into union to reform the church and reclaim the nation.  He has a unique ability to be a voice that grips all generations for the cause and draw them toward each other.

With almost 20 years of ministry experience, Eric continues to pursue the heart of God and give himself as a modern day reformer to see the Kingdom of God expressed at fuller measures within history.  Out of his heart to break the molds of a past season that would desire to restrict generations from their purposes together, he has formed the Breaker Company (http://thebreakercompany.com/) to serve Kingdom efforts of reformation through generational synergy.

Eric and his wife, Angela, have been married for over 12 years.  They live in Parkersburg, WV, serve in leadership at Valley Harvest Church in Marietta, OH, serve with the Federation of Ministers and Churches International in Dallas, TX as part of the apostolic council, and are founders and team leaders of the Breaker Company.  They have 2 sons, Ezekiel and Nehemiah.

You can see more about the tour that Dutch and Eric are putting together at www.theARtour.com. You won’t want to miss this Sunday @ SouthView. Come be our guest and get ignited!

Summary

His New York Times phenomenon The Prayer of Jabez changed how millions pray. Now Bruce Wilkinson wants to change what they do next.

Anyone can do a good deed, but some good works can only happen by a direct intervention from God. Around the world these acts are called miracles—not that even religious people expect to see one any time soon. But what would happen if millions of ordinary people walked out each morning expecting God to deliver a miracle through them to a person in need? You Were Born for This starts with the dramatic premise that everyone at all times is in need of a miracle, and that God is ready to meet those needs supernaturally through ordinary people who are willing to learn the “protocol of heaven.”

In the straightforward, story-driven, highly motivating style for which he is known, Wilkinson describes how anyone can be a “Delivery Guy” from heaven in such universally significant arenas of life as finances, practical help, relationships, purpose, and spiritual growth.

You Were Born for This will change how readers see their world, and what they expect God can do through them to meet real needs. They will master seven simple tools of service, and come to say with confidence, “I want to deliver a supernatural gift from God to someone in need today—and I expect to!”
