Some thoughts from today

I had to write down some thoughts from today…what a great day it was!!

-First of all, we got to announce that SouthView now has its own building. After setting up church for over a year plus (including my time with Bethel Spring Hill) this is the BEST Christmas present I can get. I can’t begin to tell you how awesome it is to have our own building. More news on that later…

-Today’s worship was Awesome! Can I just say that God was truly in the HOUSE! Wow…that’s the kind of stuff I want to experience every time we worship the most high!

-I really enjoyed the service today. It actually felt like a bunch of family came over to visit. As a pastor you sometimes struggle with your message (maybe that’s only me?) and how it’s going to come off to the congregation. Today it felt natural. I really believe that if the church gets the importance of reaching out and loving on people, the importance of being who God has called you to be and being real, churches wouldn’t be able to contain all the people that will show up on a Sunday. No doubt about it.

-Joy did a great job being sensitive to God’s leading and taking us through worship. You are rockin it girl!

-The Belts and the Norcios are interesting people. Thanks for telling everyone your “story”.

-To Debby and Mark – Thanks for letting us meet in the Fun and Party Zone for the past 4 months. We appreciate you both and pray God’s blessing on your business! Go visit the Party store for all your party needs!!

-David is rockin the Children’s church! Bro, I appreciate you building that small army back there.

-So excited to hear all the people that want to step up and serve in the coming year. That makes me very excited to see people grab onto the vision and want to run with it.

-I’m STOKED (can I still use that word?) about our Dec 21st service in our NEW BUILDING!!! We are going to be celebrating and singing Christmas songs (thanks to Lucas). It’s going to be a great kick off for the new year.

-Let me say this again and again, 2009 is going to be a great year for SouthView. I’m already a big fan!

It stinks to be us

I got this in my inbox today…
The Philadelphia Police are cracking down on speeders heading into Philadelphia.

For the first offense, they give you two Eagle tickets.
If you get stopped a second time, they make you use them.

1. Q. What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl?

A. The Philadelphia Eagles.

2. Q. How do you keep the Philadelphia Eagles out of your yard?
A. Put up a goal post.

3. Q . Where do you go in Philadelphia in case of a tornado?
A. To the Eagles Stadium – they never have a touch down there!

4. Q. What do you call a Philadelphia Eagle with a Super Bowl ring?
A. A thief.

5. Q. What’s the difference between the Philadelphia Eagles and a dollar Bill?
A. You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

6. Q. How many Philadelphia Eagles does it take to win a Super Bowl?
A. Nobody knows and we may never find out.

7. Q. What do the Philadelphia Eagles and a possums have in common?
A. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road.

….that’s how we Philly Fans Roll!

“EVERYONE HAS A STORY”

That’s the title of my message this Sunday. I think it’s so important that we see what God says about the value and worth of every person. We are also going to get to know a few of our SouthView leaders on Sunday with a little interview I put together. It’s going to be a good time!

Here’s a preview..check out this video by Brandon Heath…it’s pretty much the perfect song for what I’m going to share.

See you Sunday @ 10am….

Tis the Season to Give

Even though we are a small church, we wanted to make a point to try to give big during this Holiday season. SouthView has committed to helping these two great groups.

Thanksgiving – Although this has passed, we enjoyed working with the Franklin organization called FEED FRANKLIN FIRST. Mr Willie Otey has a heart and passion for feeding those less fortunate in the Franklin area. Although Franklin is a pretty wealthy town, there are quite a few places where people are really struggling to eat and get by. On the Monday before Thanksgiving we had the pleasure of helping him pack up meals to give out for Thanksgiving dinners. We had a great turnout, and some people outside of our church, even donated food and money towards this worthy cause. Willie continues to serve the local community all year long and we look forward to working with him again.

If you are interested in helping Feed Franklin First, check out his website at www.feedfranklinfirst.com

Christmas- We are excited to be helping out a great organization in Columbia called the HOPE HOUSE. They exist to help those affected by domestic violence. We have committed to buying gifts for 5 families (a total of 14 people). They request that you only spend $75 per person so we are looking to raise $1050 and then go shopping for them. What a great way to help make somebody’s holiday special!

If you are interested in helping out the Hope House, please email us and we will instruct you on how to help give. This opportunity, of course is open to anyone, even if you don’t attend SouthView. You can also check out their website at www.hopehouseofmaury.com
